I've been doing a lot of research recently on this new Cyclone RX3 since getting on the list for one at California Scooter Company. And honestly, I think this bike is going to be a game changer. I just found an article reporting that a distributor in Chile (Derco) has just announced it will import the RX3. Also saw a French site appearing to say that all the hype on a KTM 390 adventure bike that was finally confirmed NOT to be coming has resulted in lots of chatter from people wanting to see such an offering by some manufacturer. Both sites were in their native language and didn't translate well but I think I got the main points right. Here is the translated version of the section of the Chilean site mentioning the RX3. Please note that google translate seems to confuse valves with cylinders....this is not a 4 cylinder bike.
Zongshen Models
The RX3 is an urban bike that has a 4-stroke liquid cooled, 4 cylinders and a displacement of 249.6 cc, 6-speed manual transmission, front and rear brakes single disc, with a gross weight of 175 kilos , LED lights, and come in blue, red, white and yellow.
The Thunder motorcycle has a six-speed manual transmission and comes with a four-stroke engine with displacement of 249,6cc delivering power at 9000rpm and 24,8Hp torque at 7000rpm 22,5Nm and consumption of 3.4 lt per 100 km. It will be available in blue and black colors.
The Z-One model features a four-stroke air-cooled engine of 149.5 cc delivering power at 8000rpm and 11,4Hp torque of 10Nm at 8000rpm, mechanical five-speed transmission and consumption of 2 2 liters per 100 km, in blue, red, yellow, white, green and orange colors.
SYM and Zongshen, like Suzuki, will have a 1 year warranty or 20,000 km, whichever comes first, with the backing of Derco. The frequency of maintenance will be every 3,000 kms and can be made on the premises of the Motorcycle Derco network throughout the country.
If Zongshen are smart enough to capitalize on this and keep expanding distributors on all continents and can prove reliability and quality maybe we'll be calling it the big 5 instead of 4 sooner than we think.
With the Cyclone in the US, Honley in the UK, M1NSK in Russia and now Chile (I think there's also rumor for Philippines and a few others), looks like a good RTW support system could be coming together.
